Fingerprint Security Arrives on Samsung's T7 Touch SSD

What are you storing in your portable SSDs? Work documents? Nuclear blueprints? Japanese homework? Well, now you can be assured that none of your secrets will be revealed, with the introduction of a fingerprint sensor on Samsung's T7 Touch SSD, which has been named as a CES2020 Innovation Awards honoree. This acts as an additional layer of security between your sensitive information and prying eyes.

Colours: Meh and meh-er

Apart from the fingerprint sensor, the T7 touch also includes password protection and AES 256-bit hardware encryption. You'll be able to store up to 2TB of data in either a sleek black or silver titanium metal case, which weighs a mere 58g.

Speed-wise, the T7 is fast, with 1,050mbps and 1,000mbps read and write speed respectively, making it twice as fast as the T7's lauded predecessor - the T5.

Prices are as follows:

  • 500GB - US$129.99 (~RM532)

  • 1TB - US$229.99 (~RM941)

  • 2TB - US$399.99 (RM1,636)

The Samsung T7 Touch will be available in over 30 countries starting this month.
