Ubisoft has released a trailer for the remake of their beloved action-adventure game, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, as part of their Ubisoft Forward 2020 event. The game first came out in 2003.
The remake trailer shows off some of the game’s time-related powers and enemies, along with the animations and visuals.
“Experience the classic tale that redefined action-adventure gaming in The Sands of Time Remake, the first full-scale remake of Prince of Persia by Ubisoft,” says the YouTube description, which perhaps hints at more Prince of Persia remakes to come.
While the possibility of more remakes might normally sound like a good thing for fans of the series, that may not be the case here, given the reception to The Sands of Time Remake’s trailer. It currently has 17k dislikes compared to 10k likes, and many of the comments are unhappy about the visual quality of the remake.
“You know the graphics are bad when the forgotten sands looks better and it was released 10 years ago...,” says one comment. Another remarks, “When the title card looks more visually impressive than the game being shown.”
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will be out on 21 January, 2021, assuming that the backlash doesn’t cause a delay to improve the graphics.
