The Acer Swift 3X and Acer Aspire 5, armed with Intel’s 11th gen processors, are now available in Malaysia. The laptops feature a new “device-lifting hinge design” that provides extra ventilation at certain angles and extra airflow below them, as well as cooling modes that can be accessed with the “Fn+F” shortcut.
The Swift 3X is a 17.95mm, 1.37kg laptop with a 14-inch FHD IPS screen that has a 72% NTSC color gamut. Inside, it has up to 16GB LPDDR4X RAM and a 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD. For connectivity, it comes with HDMI 2.0, USB 3.2 Gen 1, and USB Type-C (with Thunderbolt 4 support) ports and support for 2x2 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0. Microsoft Office Home & Student 2019 are pre-installed.
The device is said to be able to provide up to 17.5 hours of battery life and can provide four hours of video playback after 30 minutes of charging. Meanwhile, Acer says that its larger fan provides “60% airflow improvement” while other design aspects offer maximized cooling efficiency. Other features include Intel’s Deep Link and Acer Color Intelligence, the latter of which adjusts gamma and saturation dynamically. There are two variants: a Core i7 with 16GB RAM option (RM4,599) and a Core i5 with 8GB RAM option (RM3,799).
Meanwhile, the Aspire 5 comes with 4GB RAM and a 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD, which have upgrade slots and a HDD upgrade kit respectively. It has 14-inch and 15.6-inch variants and also offers the option of having an NVIDIA GeForce MX350 graphics card. Like the Swift 3X, Microsoft Office Home & Student 2019 are pre-installed. Its price starts at RM2,799 for a 14” i5 processor model sans MX350 and goes up to RM3,799 for a 15.6-inch model with an i7 processor and MX350.
Acer is also offering promotions for these two devices that last until December 30. Those who buy either of the laptops during the period will be able to redeem free gifts like Touch ‘n Go eWallet credits. Images that came with the press release also mention free backpacks for both and a personalized laptop sleeve for the Swift 3X. In addition, each redemption submission before December 24 will make buyers eligible for the Christmas rEunion Advent Calendar and its prize pool, with Acer picking a winner each day and announcing them on Facebook.
